Conveying, separating and distribution solution for plastic parts

Closed conveyor combination with rectangle drum and distribution chute for transport, separation and distribution of sensitive parts

Task:

Conveying, separating, and distributing sensitive plastic parts

Various types of plastic parts and their corresponding sprues are produced on an injection molding machine. The size difference between the parts and sprues is very small.

The produced parts should be separated from each other.

The good parts should then be distributed into three different containers (buffering).

The conveyor line must be protected against dust.

One control system is intended to control the entire system, including an additional feed conveyor.

Solution: Combination of enclosed conveyor belts, rectangular drum and a reject chute

An I-Tech small conveyor transports the parts crosswise from an injection molding machine.

A Multi-Tech conveyor belt, type NL-LD 120, with a low-profile flat belt section for transferring parts and sprues from the smaller conveyor belt. The conveyor belt is covered with PET material and features an enclosed stainless steel transfer housing for conveying parts into the separating drum.

Patented MTF rectangular drum type 3 R7 B for separating complex part/sprue combinations. The good parts are smaller than the sprues and fall out of the separating drum from the bottom. This ensures a 100% separation rate for the good parts. The patented mechanism guarantees that no jamming can occur during separation. The smooth stainless steel body of the separating drum is easy to clean.

Good parts are transferred via a Z-conveyor belt, type ZL-LD 120. The lower flat belt section is adapted for transfer from the separating drum. The conveyor section is covered from above by PET discs.

A 3-way reject chute with pneumatic drive is installed at the outlet of the Z-belt. This reject chute features the MTF Technik patented switching mechanism using a rotary shaft. This eliminates jamming and allows the switch to be used even for small parts that can easily become jammed in conventional reject chutes.

The entire system is controlled by a Siemens S7 controller, including the integration of all devices into the emergency stop circuit. Operating states are displayed via plain text and a 3-color indicator light.
